Hello!

Thank you for visiting the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s Women’s Ministry blog. It is my privilege to serve you and the Kentucky Baptist Convention (KBC) as the women’s ministry and senior adult associate on the Leadership Development Team. I have been a part of the KBC staff since 1997.

Crosseyedliving was “birthed” as a result of my desire to give women a place to come and “sit” while being encouraged as a spiritual leader, to live as true representatives of Jesus Christ, and to share Him with others as they go.

The name of the blog is taken from a past women’s conference. The theme was…yes, you guessed it, “Crosseyed Living.” Taken from Hebrews 12:2, this theme reminds us to “fix our eyes on Jesus,” living according to His standards in every area of our lives. That’s true spiritual leadership.

I hope that you will check out the posts written by writers, Aundie Starks and Donna Coffey, as well as myself, on a regular basis. (Also, read their bios to get to know each of them a little better.)

As you read, may the words and thoughts shared through Crosseyedliving inspire and encourage you along your journey of living as a true spiritual leader.

Thank you for letting us in your lives. May you learn, laugh, and live to the glory of God!

Recalculating….Recalulating

For the past eight years, I have driven to the DC area at least once a year to visit family.  For the past two, I have used a GPS.  Although I was coming to the area for a meeting, I didn’t expect this drive to be any different because my GPS had always taken me the [...]

Three Wheeling

I remember learning to ride a bike.  My father bought me a tricycle first.  It was red with white handle bar caps and streamers at the end.  I loved that bike and rode it until the seat would no longer stay on the bike—at least not without careful maneuvering.  So, daddy declared it unsafe and forbade me [...]

Confessions of a Former Pit Dweller

Since Crosseyed Living’s conception, I have written from where God is teaching me.  So, when I write about gossiping, failure to listen, etc.,  it’s because God has spoken to me personally–about MY issues.  This is because I suffer from “plank-eyeism” (Matthew 7:3, NIV).  In other words, I have enough of my own issues that keep me from [...]

Father, I’m Listening

During the run of “Frasier,” one of TV’s most successful sitcoms, Dr. Frasier Crane often began his radio station program with “Good Morning Seattle, this is Frasier Crane, I’m listening.”  This statement often opened the door to many conversational adventures.  Listening is so underrated.  I mean, it’s often after the fact that we say, “If I [...]

Gossip Girl?

I have never been one to gossip.  Sure, periodically, there has been the occasional slip here and there.  Nevertheless, I managed to stay off the “vine” and out of it (at least on a full-time basis).  Well, lately, I seem to ask one too many questions about…..whatever, and before I know it…well you can piece  the rest together.  My innocent [...]

Reason’s Name

Corrianna was her name.  She was an African American girl who appeared to be around 11 or 12.  She stood in the hotel elevator alone as I stepped on.  “What is the North American Mission Board?” she asked. She must have noticed the “North American Mission Board” on the tag around my neck.  (She also had [...]

Best on the Menu

Nachos is one of my favorite splurge (eaten on ocassion) foods. When I order them from my favorite restaurant, I tell the waitress what I want on them.  She brings back my order arranged just as I ordered. Well, during a recent “to go” order, the waitress informed me that she was going to read the order back to [...]

Road Trip Treasured

I went to my cousin’s wedding over the weekend.  He’s 33 and married a young woman he’s been dating for awhile.  We were very excited for him. So, I drove to Atlanta, picked up my parents and then we were off to Alabama.  Although I do not love driving, I do love a good road [...]

Memories No One Can Steal

Someone stole my camera when I was on vacation. The camera was a display unit that I had purchased at a fraction of the cost.  The pictures were priceless.  Looking at the last scenes of Tamarindo, Costa Rica during the hour long ride to the Liberian International Airport, I was grateful for more memories made and shared with [...]

Grand time in Grand Rivers!

This past weekend, I enjoyed Grand Rivers, the village between the lakes!  Located on Lake Barkley and the Kentucky Lake, Grand Rivers is indeed a village filled with authentic charm.  Moreover, the people of Grand Rivers Baptist Church provide an extra bit of charm and warmth themselves. Pastor Mark Gill invited me to speak this past Sunday during what [...]
