Hello Ladies,

One of my passions is to work in the area of women’s ministry. So, after 27 years of teaching in a local county school system, I attended and graduated from the Women’s Ministry Institute (WMI) at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. I am currently continuing classes toward an advanced certificate with WMI.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Tom, of 30 years, and we are blessed with three children and two beautiful granddaughters.

I have worked with Shelly Johns, Women’s Ministry and Senior Adult Associate for the Kentucky Baptist Convention, on several projects over the years, and I pray that you will be blessed by this latest endeavor.

Searching for Hidden Treasure

As a child, I can remember my cousin, Jackie, and I would dream of finding buried treasure.  We would even dig under trees and rocks in hopes of finding a box of jewels or money!  Needless to say, we were never successful in our quest! But we all have a treasure trove that we can “dig” into….Proverbs [...]

Choppy Waters

A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be [...]

New Ministry Frontier

I have recently become a “Facebook” user.  This media phenomenon has opened a whole new world of networking!  I have connected with old classmates, found long lost friends and family,  and  it helps me stay in touch with many people that I wouldn’t ordinarily be in contact with daily.   My friends list reaches from next [...]

Tar Balls and Oil on the Beach

Our recent trip to the Gulf of Mexico was marred by the BP oil spill.  On the day we arrived, the beautiful white sands were covered with dark globs of oil.  The next day cleanup crews arrived to begin daily vigils cleaning up the beach so that we could enjoy it most of the week. Everyday [...]

True Freedom

Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.  John 8:32 Because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  Romans 8:2 The 4th of July, Independence Day for the United States of America, is historically a day of celebration.  We [...]

The Cross Says Jesus Loves Me

Last week my little granddaughter, Layla, was in the study rummaging through a bookshelf.  She found an old paperback with a stained glass window and a cross on the front cover.  She immediately said, “Nana!  This Jesus loves me!”  Out of the mouth of babes!  Such a profound theological idea proclaimed so simply! The cross  most certainly does [...]

Wet Mop

When I was a young child I spent many days with my grandparents, Papa and Mother (she was only in her thirties when I was born and felt much too young to be called Grandmother). Their house was right next door to a small country store. One morning, Mother sent me to the store to [...]

Blessings of Motherhood

Thirty years ago I began a new journey – I became a mother.  I was blessed with not one child with my first pregnancy, but with two perfect daughters.  Back in 1980, ultrasounds were just beginning to be used and since safety tests were inconclusive, my doctor was conservative in his use of them so I was unaware that [...]

Lasting Influence

I recently received a touching Facebook email from a former student and classmate of my twin daughters.  Twenty years ago my daughters would often invite her to church events, Bible School, etc. We would pick her up and take her along with our family.  I had lost contact with her for the past ten years, then [...]
