Frozen Yogurt ~ Gelato… The new fangled way to eat “ice cream”

Have ya’ll noticed that every single town large or small has these new cutsie ‘lil shops to stop in and build your own sweet treat?  Not to mention they have names that are just plain FUN!

Melt…Twisted Pineapple…Orange Leaf…Red Mango…Swirley’s…Sweet Monkey…Pinkberry…Milk and Honey…YoGo Creations…Maggie Moo’s…I could go on…

I have been on mission to yield my food addiction to Jesus since Jan 1st and He has been oh so faithful to walk this out with me.  My new “splurge in moderation” is…you got it!  Frozen Yogurt or Gelato.  They are both soooo good and I really look forward to trying new flavors and visiting all the different fun yogurt shops as I travel around working.  In fact, this quest for yogurt and gelato shops got me thinking about the trendy things that come and go with each generation.  I mean really… look at gourmet coffee shops in the last 10 years.  Who ever did pay $5.00 for a glorified cup of java?  Every few years there are always new things appealing to the next up and coming generation.  Unfortunately, this is also true when it comes to finding the answers to life.  So many are diligently searching for a ray of hope in their sea of desperation.  Worse yet, they are easily influenced by the next best new age idea of finding inner peace.  I am rapidly finding out people simply don’t know what they don’t know.

My people perish from a lack of knowledgeHosea 4:6

For those of you who don’t know…

Gelato is the Italian word for ice cream.  It contains less air!  There you have it…ice cream with less air…it MUST be the way to go when making a healthier choice for sweet treats!

Frozen Yogurt is a frozen dessert made with yogurt and sometimes other dairy products.  Usually more tart than ice cream and lower in fat due to being made with milk instead of cream.  This one is a bit more obvious to me when tossing out a rationale for less fat.

As I digress for a moment…anything cake is my favorite!  Just FYI.

In all this ice cream, yogurt, and gelato talk, God really did plant a message in my heart when it comes to the REAL thing!  There is only one true God and He has a son named Jesus who came to live and die a sinless life in our stead!  There are a lot of slow churned, less air, made with milk not cream substitutes for the TRUTH and I want to encourage you to live the message of authenticity so others might be moved by the message you are living and not so much by your words.  Don’t get me wrong, words are important, but a life lived out in such a way that words are only secondary make a lasting impression on a world filled with people searching for hope!

Be a hope giver!

Kelli-girl! Loved loved this post. Not only do I love yogurt (although I am lactose intolerant), I too have been using it sparingly as treats. Thank you for providing Truth through such a fresh and creative way. God’s Word is the everlasting delight unsurpassed by none. Thanks for the reminder of the Real thing by and through which we can offer Hope!
