God Created Community

As women, we often feel alone.  We grow weary, frazzled, and frustrated, thinking that no one will understand or care to help carry our burdens.  All too often we believe those lies brought on by self-doubt.  Yet, God showed his love for us by creating community.

As a woman, I have found hope and encouragement through friendships with other women during the various seasons of my life.  The world of blogging has introduced me to other military wives and Christian writers, some of them becoming “real life” friends.  Being an active church member has helped me develop relationships within my church.  I’ve found meaningful relationships with other Christians in my workplace.  In these relationships, we have one thing in common: we are women who love Jesus.

In our love for Him and regardless of our age, race, or socioeconomic background, we come together as Christian women to encourage and be encouraged.  In sharing our joys and sorrows, we demonstrate the power of Jesus and give hope to those struggling.  Within this community of believers, we see Jesus, and as we grow closer to one another, we grow closer to Him as well.

This morning as I scrolled through my Facebook feed, I saw this quote by author Sara Horn: Women are wired for connection with others. So if we want women to know God, then let’s give them opportunities to know each other too.  Those simple words explain why I feel so strongly about women’s ministry.  In those connections and sharing of lives, we can connect further with God. I encourage you, Friend, look for opportunities to connect to other women.  Look for opportunities to share your stories of joy and sorrow.  Look for opportunities to share what Christ has done for you.

As a new member of the Crosseyed Living community, it is my prayer that God will use me to be an encouragement to you.

“And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:25 (NLT)

I love that quote by Sara….it really does encourage and motivate me to open my home (and my heart) so that women can connect with one another- something I’ve felt the Lord leading me to do…but, yes, intimidated to do so. Thanks so much for sharing – and for the encouraging!
