Kisses From God

1 John 3:1  See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

A couple of weeks ago I got to spend 7 days in a row with either one or both of my precious grand babies. (Every Grandmother will work her grandkids in somewhere.)  I spent those days hugging them and kissing their sweet cheeks – a lot.  There’s just something about sweet baby cheeks that make it hard to resist kissing them.  When it’s someone that you love – it’s impossible.

Many times they are completely oblivious to those kisses – distracted by Mickey Mouse, hunger or just the chaos around them. They even try to get away to do what they want at times.  But, when I give them “baby kisses”, they lean in for more.

That week was filled with some amazing things.  Peyton’s second birthday, sweet snuggles with Josie, all of our kids and grandkids together, my son’s ordination to the ministry and my family coming from Texas for the celebrations.  There were times that I was overwhelmed with the blessings of God in my life.  Those “kisses” from Him were so special and easy to see.

When the chaos of life hits and things are a bit harder, it’s easy to get distracted and be oblivious to those kisses and hugs from our heavenly Father.  There are times when, we too, pull away from Him to do what we want – those times we are busy or trying to handle things on our own.

It’s those times that the Father watches us and wants to draw us close and gently kiss our cheeks and remind us of His love and care.

Those kisses from God come in so many forms: time with family, the sound of a gentle spring rain, laughter of children, hearing a Word from Him at just  the right time,  the smell of freshly cut grass, sunshine on our face…..the list is endless.

Let’s not get distracted by the chaos and ‘lean in’ for those sweet kisses from our heavenly Father this week.

Leaning in,

Lisa
