Lacking Nothing

I love it when I have a moment where light dawns upon me in some fresh way! A few weeks ago, I began a Bible study called, “A Woman’s Heart God’s Dwelling Place” by Beth Moore. I actually received the Bible study book as a gift from a dear Jesus loving friend of mind! We had lunch and she was sharing how she has worked through this particular Bible study a few times already and how I would love it also. Next thing I know, she is gifting me the book! Love her!

So I’m starting my study at creation, then Noah, then the tower of Babel and so on… Lots and lots of scripture reading at the start but I did not skimp on any of it! (smile)

Last night I read this directly from my book. Deuteronomy 2:7 says, “The Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.” I had to read it a few times actually because the weight of these words hit me fresh and new. God has always been with me and as I look back even at the worst of times, I did not lack anything that I needed. I might have lacked a few wants, but God knows best what I need when I need it. Sometimes it can be hard to see the blessings in hard times until you traverse the terrain of challenging days.

I looked up the entire scripture of Deuteronomy 2:7:

The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast desert. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything.

This is where I really started to feast on this passage of scripture! Look how God cared for the Israelites in the desert for forty years in spite of their grumbling over the very food He provided them. Their clothes and shoes never wore out and their feet did not even swell.   Though God did give them over to their cravings at times, His purpose was to let them discover on their own that they wanted nothing of the old life.

As I reflect over the years of walking with the Lord thus far, it is amazing to be able to see how He has always been with me and how I have truly lacked nothing. Regardless of my insatiable worldly appetite that might get the better of me at times, He will use even those instances to usher me back to Himself!

I am so thankful to have a Father in heaven that loves me so much I lack nothing!

Blessings,

Kelli

Hi Kelli! I sure love your sharing from your heart regarding the truthful teaching of this ancient and precious Scripture! How faithful and loving is our God. May each of us who read this trust our heavenly Father with a renewed child-like trust. Hope to see you in 2015 at Huntley Haven!! Blessings, Cheryl Erwin, “Jesus Christ is #1 at HHR”
