Lord, Melt My Heart with Your Love

“Only an act of true love can thaw a frozen heart.”  If you watched the movie “Frozen” then you might have picked up on this line.  I recently watched the movie with my daughter and was captivated!  Anna was willing to sacrifice her own life for the life of her sister, Elsa.   When Elsa realized what Anna had done for her she was moved to express her own love for Anna that led to her thawing out.  Olaf realized the love shared between two sisters was the true love capable of thawing a frozen heart.

I could not help but see a parallel between the frozen heart in the movie and the hardening of hearts spoken of in the Bible.

Ephesians 4:18-19

18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

What happens that people lose all sensitivity?  What causes them to give themselves over to sensuality and indulge in every kind of impurity?  How do they become so full of greed?

As people continue to live in sin, the heart becomes harder and harder.

Ultimately the hardness of the human heart can only be repaired by the grace of God. It is he who can restore us, by taking away our heart of stone and giving us a heart of flesh.

Ezekiel 11:18-21

18 “They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their vile images and detestable idols, I will bring down on their own heads what they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD.”

I remember so well the first time I realized my need for God’s grace!  My heart began to melt and I began to change.  Really change!  God is love and when His great love encompasses every facet of your undeserving life, you are made new.  Your heart is thawed!

“Only an act of true love (God’s love) can thaw a frozen heart.”

Completely thawed;)
