Standing Room Only

Facebook Twitter Email

Like me, you may have invested a lot of work already, attended one more conference in hopes it’ll be THE ONE where it all just clicks, or maybe you are so pressured by the ticking of the clock you simply cannot hear yourself think much less make an actual life decision about what’s next. I mean gosh, everyone else seems to be getting these amazing opportunities to pull up a chair at the Lord’s table and collaborate about their amazing gifts while I continually find myself parked in the back section of the room labeled, “standing room only.” I do indeed learn from those seated at the table all the while my heart longs to be ONE with the group selected to sit. Do y’all relate?

I find myself wrestling with questions like…

  • Are those seated at the table more important to God?

  • Do their gifts count for so much more in the Kingdom?

  • Why do I feel full of ideas to share yet lack the resources and guidance to make it happen?

I could go on and on with questions that taunt me daily, but I won’t.

I want so desperately to be a good steward of all God has given my family thus far. He has certainly been good to us and we are so thankful! I’m trying to trust the process of authentic growth and know that God’s timing is always right and perfect. The waiting room is not always the easiest room to be in and I am well aware I’m not alone. Interestingly though, you can be in some of the most well populated places and still feel like you are the only one.

Maybe I’ve chosen to share this portion of my heart from a place that feels isolated while deep inside knowing there are others who share in this with me.

Isaiah 40:31

but those who hope in the Lord

will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles;

they will run and not grow weary,

they will walk and not be faint.

Father, please continue to remind us that you have enough room at your table for all of us! Although we may not see our gifts and talents coming to full fruition in this particular season, in due time we’ll sore like eagles! Help us remain faithful to you in the daily surrender of our precious gifts. Give us a willingness to lay them at your feet so your will might be done through some portion of our brokenness. Remind us daily that we are not in a place of “standing room only” but in the very banquet hall where the Lords table is plentiful enough to feed us all! I’m just longing for the best part, dessert! Amen.

    Amen. Comparison in the Kingdom of God is a no-no.
