Waiting on the Lord

A baby! I can’t believe we’re having a baby! This little surprise came to us right in the middle of moving homes and jobs! The Lord’s timing is impeccable, that’s for sure! Although He has chosen to bless us with this little one at this exact moment does not mean that we didn’t do some heavy duty waiting.

A little over a year ago, my husband and I decided we wanted to have a child. We knew that conception is of the Lord, but we were ready. We told the Lord, “Lord, we are ready.” I can remember crying each month as my time came and no baby.

In January, I cried out to the Lord. I begged and pleaded and ugly cried to Him. His response was Psalm 27:14, “Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.” (NASB) He told me to wait. He even sent me several more scriptures telling me to spend intimate time with Him and wait. He sent me to the women in the Bible who longed for children but had to wait on God’s impeccable timing. I looked to Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, and Elizabeth. I prayed the same prayers. Their examples encouraged me to simply wait.

In June, I decided I was content to wait on having children. I am about to start my first year of teaching and we were moving to a new area. I had plenty on my mind to focus on and a baby wasn’t one of them. Well, the Lord decided that we are going to have a baby! The Lord is faithful, dear ones. He gives us the desires of our hearts. But we HAVE to WAIT on Him and we MUST spend intimate time with Him daily! When we focus on Him and not our wants, He changes our perspective from “me” to “Jesus.” Sweet sisters, our Lord is faithful and He simply wants your attention. Wait on Him and see how His immaculate plans unfold!
